10 Things You Should Know About WordPress 2.2

Aaron Brazell has a great run-down of all the new features available in the latest WordPress release, version 2.2. I like the fact that WordPress is moving to a release early, release often model.

There does not appear to be much in this update that I’ll use, although the new editing functionality might be helpful. I still haven’t drunk the widget Kool-Aid, since I never found it particularly hard to paste code directly into my sidebar includes, but they’re now built into the code rather than produced by a plug-in. The fact that the preview window now opens into a new window will also be nice, as it was ridiculously slow the old way.

I thought the same thing James on the preview window. I used it this morning after updating last night and was throughly impressed.

I understand the widget thing – but am not sure I am comfortable enough with it to make the change. The old saying of “if ain’t broke, don’t fix it” is what I like to go by in these situations.
