70 PERCENT: That’s the percentage of Americans who support President Bush’s ultimatum for going to war without the United Nations if Saddam doesn’t relent, according to a post-speech WaPo-ABC News poll. Such polls are misleading, of course, in that they always spike after a presidential speech and don’t measure intensity of support or the depth of people’s understanding of the issues. Still, an effective rebuttal to the claims of the anti-war side that the crowds at their rallies show a lack of public support.
