Ann Richards, Former Texas Governor, Has Cancer

Former Texas Ann Richards has cancer of the esophagus. She “will undergo treatment at the world-renowned M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.”

I wish her well. Anderson is indeed one of the best cancer treatment facilities in the world. My mother went there in 1972 because we had the good fortune to be stationed in Houston when she was diagnosed with uterine cancer.

  4. It’s a rather disturbing fact you could see more celebrities at M.D.Anderson than Planet Hollywood when it was open.

Cancer went after the wrong person here. That woman will have cancer begging for mercy before she is done with it. I am not a big fan of her politics, but have always respected her and want her around for another 20-30 years worth of eye-rolling comments and annoying psuedo-folksiness.

I wasn’t a big fan of her politically, but Esophagus cancer is one of the worst. My father died of it. If she has her esophagus removed, it’s one of the most traumatic operations you can have. They cut you basically straight across your chest right to life on the diagonal. Simple things like swallowing saliva will never be easy again. Hopefully she can avoid that with chemo or radiation. Best wishes governor.
