 Outside the Beltway

Bob Novak’s piece this morning

Bob Novak’s piece this morning is puzzling. It’s essence: “The U.S. . . . is poised to attack on its own, without the U.N. Security Council passing a second authorizing resolution. However, presumed military success projects an American imperium that evokes apprehension among some conservative supporters of President Bush.” Huh? First, we’re not going it alone; we have at least a score of allies including all the countries in Europe save France and Germany. Second, the Security Council has already passed numerous resolutions on this; another is superfluous. Third, an American imperium? Robert Kagan handled that one five years ago. Finally, who are these apprehensive conservative supporters? Madonna? Dave Matthews? Sean Penn? Susan Sarandon?
