CANCELING MEMORIAL DAY?

Inoperable Terran notes with some dismay that the Alexandria VA schools, near the Pentagon, have canceled the Memorial Day holiday in order to make up for days lost to snow. As I noted in his Comments section*, although it sounds bad, I guess it’s the most logical solution. I mean, really, even though I’m a vet and my dad’s a vet, it’s not like I spend Memorial Day mourning the dead and appreciating their sacrifice. I suspect that’s much more the case for schoolchildren. Indeed, they’d be more likely to do something more Memorial Day-esque were they in school.
*And, no, I didn’t do it so he’d blogroll me. He already has. Heh.
