Ann Coulter is apparently back on her medication and has written a rather reasonable analysis of the controversy over Franklin Graham’s attempt to convert Iraqi Muslims to Christianity. From a practical standpoint, I’d prefer that the Arab world practice modern American-style Christianity than the archaic fanatical form of Islam that is currently en vogue. The problem is that getting there is likely to produce quite reasonable fears of cultural imperialism and a massive backlash.

Separating the hatred that erupts from fundamentalist Islamic teachings from any contaminating contact with civil government is a surgical task of the highest order. If that can be accomplished, then there is a good chance that a secular form of government can survive and flourish in Iraq.
