I missed this one yesterday: James Taranto argues in WSJ that we should strongly consider an Iraq-style regime change in Cuba. His rationale: Castro is a meanie and it wouldn’t be that hard. Now, while I agree that Castro is a pretty despicable character and that toppling him would likely come at a lower price than ridding ourselves of Saddam, I really hate it when opinion mongers start declaring war on everybody. Can’t we at least restrict our wars to countries that pose some military threat to us?

And, contrary to the opinion of many in Republican circles, I think that lifting the embargo on Cuba would hasten regime change, and make life better for the Cubans. Right now the embargo is hardly hurting Fidel.
Agreed. I am pretty much opposed to embargoes and have been for decades. I think the Cuban ex-pat community in Miami is starting to split on the issue of the embargo as well.
This gets me angry as well. It seems that there are several op-ed writers that want to change every bad regine in the world. Let's hope that no one in power listens to them.
