PHONES OBSOLETE?

WaPo reports that, among preteens, online communication is replacing talking on the telephone as the preferred means of communication among friends. Further, AOL posits that instant messaging will outpace e-mails by 2005.

Very interesting...it allows for easier multi-tasking. They can watch TV, IM, and do homework all at once becaue IMing is not a conversation that requires complete attention at all times like a phone conversation.

Well, let's say IMs will outpace legitimate emails by 2005, which will be about 6 percent of the total email volume.

All the rest is spam.
