 Outside the Beltway

AN OBSERVATION

It occured to me that we’ve yet to hear any of the Democratic candidates ask why it is that Saddam Hussein gets free medical care at taxpayer expense when hardworking Americans have to choose between picking up their prescriptions and heating their homes.

Congratulations to all of them for their restraint.

Michael Medved just played the sound bite of the exchange in question. Gephardt sounded quite serious (as did Matthews, for that matter).

Uh, guys, prisoners in the U.S. receive free health care, free food AND free housing - just like Saddam.

If you want all these things, go knock over a liquor store and get caught - they could all be yours, just like Saddam.

"Congratulations ...restraint."

And also to you for resisting the impulse to be sarcastic.
