 Outside the Beltway

BEHIND ENEMY LINES

TIME Magazine has what appears to be an interesting cover story on the Iraqi insurgency, highlighting many of the groups Steven Metz identified a few weeks ago. The subtitle of the piece is “An inside look at the Baathists, terrorists, Islamists and disaffected Iraqis fighting U.S. troops.” Unfortunately, all that’s available to non-subscribers is an anecdotal lead-in.

They also have a couple of related photo essays available without charge: TIME Magazine: Guide to the Insurgents and Among the Enemy.

About the Author: James Joyner is the publisher of Outside the Beltway and the managing editor of the Atlantic Council. He's a former Army officer, Desert Storm vet, and college professor with a PhD in political science from The University of Alabama. He lives just outside the Beltway in Alexandria, Virginia.
