SPECIAL INTERESTS

Rob Smith takes strong exception to Dick Gephardt’s assertion that labor unions, farmers, and the elderly aren’t special interest groups. I concur.

No, they are "very special" interest groups.

I think it is all so funny that politicians can get the public all riled up about "special interests." I point out to my students that they probably belong to at least a half dozen special interests without them knowing it. As students, they have a state and national lobby that they pay in to. Many belong to the PIRGs without them knowing it. Blah, blah, blah.

People -- read Federelist 10!
