 Outside the Beltway

Dick Cheney’s Parka

A quick check of GoogleNews reveals no explanation for Vice President Cheney’s unusual clothing choice for the Auschwitz liberation commemoration.

Andy Borowitz offers this, though:

Attempting to explain his appearance in a drab olive parka at last week’s solemn ceremony marking the liberation of Auschwitz, Vice President Dick Cheney said today that he was so busy remembering Auschwitz that he forgot to pack his suit. Speaking to reporters at the White House, Mr. Cheney said, “In the best-case scenario, I would have remembered both Auschwitz and my suit, but if I had to remember just one thing, I’m darn glad it was Auschwitz.”

To prove to reporters that he had tried to remember both Auschwitz and his suit, he distributed a copy of a yellow Post-it note that he wrote out for himself before packing, listing the following three things to remember: “1. Auschwitz 2. Toothbrush 3. Suit.” “As it turns out, I remembered both Auschwitz and my toothbrush, but forgot my suit,” Mr. Cheney said. “At the end of the day, two out of three ain’t bad.”

Heh.

I remembered the suit, but forgot both Auschwitz and my toothbrush. Yet, at the end of the day, my having remembered anything ain't bad.

Obviously there must be a congressional investigation or, better yet, an independant counsel appointed.
Or perhaps someone should just take that reporter out back and piss all over him.
