Christian Peacemakers Ungrateful, Blame Rescuers
John Stevenson collects statements made by the Christian Peacemaker Teams after this morning’s daring rescue by Coalition military personnel from Islamist terrorists who had already murdered one of their fellows.
Their press release does not even mention, let alone thank, the men who risked their lives for their rescue, noting merely their “joy” that their comrades “have been safely released.” Moreover, they state that, the men who were captured, “knew that their only protection was in the power of the love of God and of their Iraqi and international co-workers. We believe that the illegal occupation of Iraq by Multinational Forces is the root cause of the insecurity which led to this kidnapping and so much pain and suffering in Iraq.”
It turns out, those very occupiers, not Iraqi or international co-workers, saved their asses. And the terrorists who those men are there fighting did the kidnapping and murdered Tom Fox. I suspect they wouldn’t like the interrogation techniques that led to the intel that made their rescue possible, and may be freeing other hostages as we speak, either.
I would quote Colonel Jessup. But why bother?
Update: Richard at Hyscience dubs the CPTs “idiots who purposefully put their own naive arses on the line to essentially give aid and comfort, and provide propaganda, for the Islamist fascists that are murdering innocent Iraqis and blowing up our men and women.” That about sums it up.
Put them in downtown Baghdad with a sign around their necks identifying them as Christians, and see how long they last…
They call themselves Christians, but their claims are false.
Say what you want about them but true christians, those who model their life after the life of Christ, are beyond your criticisms.
Christian ideas did not win in the war of ideas through the sword but rather by people like Tom Fox sacrificing their lives for their belief without themselves resorting to violence.
I would not expect conservatives to understand what christianity is all about. They have already made up their minds to set themselves above their fellow man instead of as their servant, as was tought by Christ.

Then I do not want to hear one more word from Ken when a “true” christian advocates intelligent design, or pro-life policies, etc.
After all, they are BEYOND CRITICISM! So shut your yap.
Personally, I put more stock in General George S. Patton who said, “Nobody ever won a war by dying for their country, he won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his.”
Oh, and did Ken really just say that Christians won (won! past tense!) the war of ideas by sacrificing themselves as martyrs? Charles Martel would no doubt have found this amusing.
But hey, at least Ken has his seat next to God reserved on judgement day to help weed out the true Christians from those who claim to be Christians and conservatives.
Who cares if they are ungrateful. Its hard to change crazy peoples perspectives on life. I’m sure though that three of them might change their minds
Uh Ken, have you read the CPT website? These folks criticize that which is safe to criticize – the United States. They ignore that which might still in some sectors be unsafe to criticize – Saddam Hussein. When I read their web site I come away with the impression of a group which is quite self-righteous regarding their non-violent message. Not a real abdication of the ego that theologians like Bonhoeffer stated was necessary to maximize ones unity with God in the Christian message. Compared with the work of someone like Mother Teresa who humbly persisted whatever the political climate, I do not think Jesus would be overly impressed by the CPT. But you sound like a much truer Christian than me so you would probably have a better idea about that than I would.
Give’em back to their captors…or better yet, turn them over for debriefing to say…the Egyptians.
