Cadet Command 20th Anniversary
A recent milestone that had previously escaped my attention: “U.S. Army Cadet Command (USACC), the parent organization of the Army ROTC program, is commemorating the 20th anniversary of its establishment.” Interestingly (to me at least) I started the ROTC Advanced Program that fall, so was part of the inaugural group of cadets.
The “Leadership-Excellence” patch depicted at right was also inaugurated at that time, replacing various school insignia and predecessor ROTC patches. Oddly, however, those of us who were also in the Army Reserves in the Simultaneous Membership Program were required to wear said patch on our right sleeve. That caused quite a bit of consternation, as that location is traditionally reserved for Shoulder Sleeve Insignia-Former Wartime Service, more popularly known as the “combat patch.”
