Jeff Goldstein Gets Some Nasty Email

And after revealing those emails and the identity of the author (a professor at the University of Arizona named Deb Frisch), Protein Wisdom is down as the result of two DDOS attacks. Michelle Malkin explains:

Jeff Goldstein, who has been such an inspiration and good friend ever since I started blogging, is under attack. He–and his toddler son–have been the subject of abuse and harassment from a nutball leftist troll, who appears to hold a prominent teaching position at the University of Arizona and seems to have a history of abusing and stalking blogs. Some of the messages she left for Jeff:

“I’d like to hear more about your “tyke” by the way. Girl? Boy? Toddler? Teen? Are you still married to the woman you ephed to give birth to the tyke?
    Tell all, bro!”

    ***

“[…] as I said elsewhere, if I woke up tomorrow and learned that someone else had shot you and your “tyke” it wouldn’t slow me down one iota. You aren’t “human” to me.”

    ***

” Ooh. Two year old boy. Sounds hot. You live in Colorado, I see. Hope no one Jon-Benets your baby.

Are you still married to the woman you humped to produce the toddler? ”

    ***

Give your pathetic progeny (I sure hope that mofo got good genes from his mama!) a big fat tongue-filled kiss from me! LOTS AND LOTS OF SALIVA from Auntie MOONBAT, if you don’t mind!

Somehow, Jeffy boy, I think you get off on the possibility of Frenching your pathetic progeny, even if it is a boy. You seem like a VERY, VERY sick mofo to me, bro.

Lovely, huh? But in an interesting turn of events, Prof. Frisch has posted this at her personal blog:

I wrote some inflammatory comments at a blog by a guy named Jeff Goldstein called protein wisdom that infuriated many bloggers and commenters. Many of these bloggers emailed my boss at the University of Arizona to tell on me.

In hindsight, the things I wrote were over the line of nastiness. I apologize to Mr. Goldstein.

I have resigned from the University of Arizona so there is no need for other enraged people to write to administrators there.

Some blogs have posted comments that I perceive to be physically threatening. I have contacted the FBI and the Pajamas Media staff to determine how to proceed with this aspect of this unbelievable experience.

My intention in this post is to de-escalate the situation. The comments that started this all were nasty, not threatening. But I feel very threatened by the response (my emphasis).

Jeff – I lost my job. You won. Could you call off the troops?

Deb, you feel threatened? Jeez. Hold on a minute and let me get the smallest violin in the world so I can play you a tune.

Anyway, due to the shear craziness of her emails to Jeff, I’d say the accuracy of this “white flag” is dubious, at best, until it’s confirmed that Professor Potty Mouth really did relinquish her position. Michelle’s trying to do that right now and I’ll update as soon as I have anything.

UPDATE: According to Professor PM:

The point of resigning is that it is something I was thinking of doing anyway. I want to stay in Eugene, OR where moonbats rule instead of living in Tucson, AZ where moonbats are in the minority. So my point is not that you should feel sorry for me but rather you should lay off the stalking like the emails to the head of the psych department at the University of Arizona, the nasty, threatening comments at the various rightwingnut blogs that have jumped on this “story.”

The department head said he would deal with this on Monday. No one has formally accepted my resignation yet. I’ve just submitted it. I understand there are many, many people out there who will want to know how the University of Arizona responds to my offer to give up my temporary gig teaching psychology next year. I will let you all know on Monday or Tuesday.

I’m just asking y’all to leave me alone and go stalk another moonbat.

Off to Oregon to indoctrinate students there, I suppose. I just hope they’re ready for her 9/11 conspiracy theories.

That having been said, Professor PM claims she’s receiving threatening emails. Who knows if she really is or not, but the email she posts here certainly isn’t threatening. Condescending and mean, yeah. But not threatening. It’s wise to keep in mind though that anyone sending threatening emails to her is no better than she.

UPDATE (James Joyner): Jeralyn Merritt weighs in with the definitive word in blogfights: “If you don’t like Jeff’s writings, don’t read them. Or read them and disagree with his arguments.”

UPDATE (James Joyner): Protein Wisdom is back up, by the way. Jeff has some thoughts on the Frisch matter and pie. Mmmmm . . . pie.

After posting the stuff she did and SHE is calling the police? gawd help us all

  3. TangoMan says:

Deb Frisch is no stranger to me or to Steve Verdon. Hey Steve, you may want to put together a “Deb Frisch’s Greatest Hits” from your archives.

  4. Bithead says:

I’ve already done some of that my place, though I don’t doubt that Steve’s collection is far more substantial than my own.

I concluded my own comments this morning, this way:

Apparently, there is a bit of a link between the kind of non-thought processes with regards to the war, Christianity, straight white males, flag stickers on SUVs, patriotism, etc., and the kind of vile, hateful, and violent comments that she spews as something of a knee jerk; Deb Frisch is hardly new, or the first at this. She’s simply the latest in a long line of such examples. And a quick serach in Google confirms this business with Goldstein isn’t new. Nor are the DOS attacks against Goldstien.

And perhaps that ought to be a clue, as to the validity of anyone else holding such views. THere IS no validity to those views. None. So thank you, Deb Frisch, for representing the left so accurately. You’ve made the job of attacking leftist nonsense far easier today.

As you may imagine, the comments being left in her own place, are slightly annoyed.

  5. Steve Verdon says:

Deb Frisch has quite a few issues, IMO. She infested my blog for awhile. She tends to go away if ignored, otherwise she can get really nasty. And when you have the number of commenters that Goldstein has, she’d be hard to get rid of.

  6. Steve Verdon says:

By the way, personally, I’d take two of her comments as threats against my son and would have called the cops on her, her employer, and just for good measure her internet service provider.

  7. I suspect BDS is the root cause here.

  8. floyd says:

steve; you are absolutely correct, i was about to make the exact comment. all that is left to say is, “kudos”

  9. Cernig says:

Can I just say that this kind of sickness has nothing to do with my kind of Left? I suspect the woman needs medication and probably a court appointed medical examiner at her trial for threatening behaviour would be a good person to adjudge that. I’ve zero tolerance for that kind of troll, no matter what politics they espouse.

In fact, my tolerance for this kind of behaviour is even lower – and would include such as the posting of real-world addresses and phone numbers for private individuals in response to a newspaper real estate puff piece as Rocco DiPippo and Dan Reihl recently did. (What Goldstein experienced in this case is a quantum leap above even that reprehensible behaviour, though.)

I condemn all such behaviour. I will continue to do so. As Glenn Greenwald says, “it is not only those who engage in the tactics themselves who bear responsibility for the consequences, but also those who offer coldly bureaucratic indifference towards these tactics, or even an implicit defense of them.”

Needless to say, anyone I had inadvertently blogrolled who behaved in such a way would be instantly delinked. I would never knowingly directly link to such a person in a post. Any commenter doing such at my blog would be banned and their ISP details handed to the aggrieved party so they could contact the cops etc.

I’ve a theory, though – it has nothing to do with the politics. To accuse the “wingnuts” or “moonbats” of being the only offenders is to deliberately ignore way too much evidence to the contrary. The mentally instable are not party-specific.

I’m posting this comment with a link to the OTB post on my blog.

    Regards, Cernig @ Newshog

  10. Mark says:

I dunno – we see plenty of the lefty blogs go bezerk over Goldstein – just look at what Atrios writes about him. I think it is GDS – Goldstein Derangement Syndrome!

  11. Cernig says:

James, is that Frisch’s address a commenter has given up thread?

If so, I’m hoping you will delete it and ban the commenter. No matter what she has done, compounding the problem by possibly giving her address to insane individuals who may wish to cause her and her family physical harm in retribution is reprehensible on the part of that person.

    Regards, Cernig

  12. James Joyner says:

Cernig: Done. Thanks for the heads’ up.

  13. Cernig says:

    James,

YW. Integrity, like the kind of nastiness we’ve been discussing here, isn’t politics specific, I am glad to say. Thank you.

    Regards, C

  14. Bithead says:

Eh… That was the university’s address, anyway, not her own. Wrong end of the country, for one thing.

  15. jpe says:

I think it is GDS – Goldstein Derangement Syndrome!

It’s just fun to mock losers like JG. There’s no need to clinicize everything.

  16. Bithead says:

    Loser?

    I think not.

If he is such a loser, then why does the left feel the need to silence him?

Balif, call the next case, please…

  17. Steve Verdon says:

And Protein Wisdom is now back down. Seems the DDOS attackers are nothing if not persistent.

  18. Bithead says:

Which raises a question of commenter “jpe”

If Jeff is such a loser, how is it the left nuts are trying to silence him in this way?

  19. Kent says:

Itâ??s just fun to mock losers like JG.

I think you have a twisted concept of “fun.”

  20. Bithead says:

    Indeed, Kent.

And jpe, if Jeff is, as you claim, a loser, can you explain why there are apparently quite a number using DOS attacks to silence him?

    Oh, I SEE…
