Why Academics Struggle as Columnists

Naval Postgraduate School professor Douglas A. Borer examines “Why Academics Struggle to Get Published in National Newspapers” in a piece by that name in the latest International Studies Perspectives. The short answer: Academics are too longwinded and nuanced to write in the broad strokes required for a gripping 700 word essay.
