Carter Center Advisors Resign Over Apartheid Book

The protests against Jimmy Carter’s Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid continue to mount, with yesterday’s resignations of fourteen members of the Carter Center Board of Councilors. In their resignation letter, they tell Carter, “You have clearly abandoned your historic role of broker in favor of becoming an advocate for one side.”

It’s not clear why they waited so long to resign, though, if they are so appalled by the book. Carter has been all over the press talking about it, so it’s hardly breaking news. Indeed, Kenneth Stein resigned last month.

About the Author: James Joyner is the publisher of Outside the Beltway and the managing editor of the Atlantic Council. He's a former Army officer, Desert Storm vet, and college professor with a PhD in political science from The University of Alabama. He lives just outside the Beltway in Alexandria, Virginia.

Who cares...the right wing will continue its blind support of all things israel. Exactly what does the US get out of that $3 billion deal.

Jimmie Carter is a man gone mad from years of trying to be both a party hack and a decent man.The dichotomy has destroyed both his reason and his decency.
