Duke University Invites Seligmann and Finnerty Back

In what one might think is a sick and perverse joke Duke University has invited back Reade Seligmann and Collin Finnerty as students. Both Seligmann and Finnerty had been placed on adminstrative leave pending the outcome of the rape and kidnapping charges.
“As circumstances have evolved in this extraordinary case, we have attempted to balance recognition of the gravity of legal charges with the presumption of your innocence,” Duke officials wrote to the Seligmann family in a letter obtained by ABC News Law & Justice Unit.
“Now with the approach of a new term, we believe that circumstances warrant that we strike this balance differently. At this point, continued extension of the administrative leave would do unwarranted harm to your educational progress. We decided&to lift the administrative leave,” the letter states.
“We have decided that the right and fair thing to do is to welcome back Reade Seligmann and Collin Finnerty to resume their studies at Duke for the spring semester,” Duke University president Richard Brodhead said in a statement released today.
Gee, ya think? And what about the 88 members of the Duke Faculty that signed a statement saying “thank you” to student protestors who distributed wanted posters the lacrosse players (Note that the gutless Duke University has expunged all references to the Group of 88’s “listening statement”, but it can be found here–scroll down)? And the student protestors themselves? No, nothing will be done to these mealy mouthed nitwits. But Seligmann and Finnerty are to come back as if nothing had happened.

I think Duke was playing to racial politics as much as Nifong was.
Makes me wonder if these guys even want to go back.

Now that they have been invited back, the two gentlemen should answer the university by taking there tuition dollars elsewhere.
