Giuliani Campaign Strong Arms Wall Street?
Political Insider: New York Style
Word on Wall Street is that New York fundraisers for Rudy Giuliani are calling senior executives with histories of supporting Republican candidates with demands along these lines: “We need five people from your firm to raise $100,000 for Rudy. Get back to us.”
The caller then hangs up, satisfied the instructions were clear and will be followed.
One hopes they at least include a phone number.
Granting that Giuliani is not currently an office holder and thus has no obvious coercive power, this strikes me as a tad heavy handed.
I thought you could only strong arm someone from a position of power. Would ham-handed have been a better qualifier than heavy handed?
