Why Geography Matters

Joe Gandelman’s associate blogger, Michael van der Galien, has posted an original two-part interview with Dr. Harm de Blij, author of Why Geography Matters, distinguished geographer, and winner of many academic honors. You may recall Dr. de Blij as the geography commentator on both NBC and ABC. He was also the the author and a commentator on the PBS series “The Power of Place”.

The first installment of the interview is here. The second is here.

The interview covers a wide range of topics including the poor position of geography in American schools, whether Turkey should be admitted to the EU, the role of Russia, the problem of Africa, and matters geographical.

Interesting stuff.
