Brian Lamb Takes on Michael Savage

Right wing shock jock Michael Savage sicked his listeners on C-SPAN founder, CEO, and host Brian Lamb for refusing to play his taped remarks he sent along on the occasion of his being given the Freedom of Speech award by Talkers magazine. Lamb responded by reading the vile emails that ensued on the air.

I’m not even American and even I love Brian Lamb. I seem to recall it was you who, when Booknotes came to a close, made the comment that the great thing was that having watched Lamb interview people from all parts of the political spectrum you had absolutely no idea where his personal political sympathies lay – I think that’s pretty much spot on.

  2. Right wing shock jock Michael Savage sicked his listeners …

    Anything after this was superfluous.

  3. My respect for Lamb only improves. He doesn’t put up with bozos no matter where they are on the political spectrum. Plus he’s build a wonderful resource.

  4. As I write this the radio is on and I’m listening to Sean Hannity’s show. I’m not a big fan of Rush but he’s ok sometimes. But Michael Savage is simply over the top or worse. I have no respect for him at all.
And his decision to attack Brian Lamb speaks for itself plus confirms what a jerk Savage is. And just who the hell is Talkers Magazine?
I’ll have to look around at Cspan’s video archive to watch the program referenced here.

Savage does grate a bit on the ears at times, and wanders off into maudlin rambles about .. ‘nuthin

BUT, in listening to Savage I hear someone who is passionate about this Country. Also someone who is passionate about the abuse this country has and is taking from the RINO Jorge W Bushez, the Socialist DemobliKans [or RepubliKrats]and the ultra leftists of every other stripe

You can slam Savage all you want, he has a measure of truth to deliver and doesn’t care one iota who it offends.

  6. Beldar says:

boaz, I think you’ve got it exactly backwards.

Savage does care, intensely, who he offends. He lives and breathes to offend. That is, without his well-demonstrated, amply proven, continuously reinforced capacity to offend, he’d simply be a boring lunatic, and he would have no audience at all, and be out of work.

As for “measure of truth,” you must be talking about awfully small units of measurement: microns? angstroms?

In my own humble opinion, he’s a loathsome man who trades on hatred. I will leave a room to avoid having to listen to him.

Could we call this one the Battle of the Aptly-Named?

I second Andrew on his praise for Booknotes. It was one of the best interview shows in the history of TV. I don’t miss watching floor action in the House and Senate, but I sure miss that show.

    Beldar;
The desire to offend for the sake of offence is a trait long ago adopted as left-wing doctrine.
    Perhaps turnabout is fair play?

BTW; No person in the media is more respectable than Brian Lamb IMHO.
