Simpsonize Me Lamest Promotion Ever

A PR guy for Burger King sent me a link to their “Simpsonize Me” promotion, which was described as “a cool website that turns people into their own, unique Simpsons character.”

It being a slow news day and feeling slightly under the weather, I tried it. My word, is it lame. They require that you upload a color photograph conforming to various detailed specifications. In reality, though, they appear to do nothing with the photo at all — just drawing a profile cartoon based on the characteristics input. If I told it I was an 86-year-old bald black chick, that’s what they’d have drawn, regardless of the photo.

Indeed, I loaded the photo and put in genuine characteristics to get the second image below and then put in different characteristics and got the third:

Why bother with the charade of having people upload a photo?

    This is much cooler.

Perhaps the worst thing about that website is that you have to look at the creepy plastic “King” as soon as it loads. The sight of him alone is enough to make me close the page.

I have never been a big Simpson’s fan.

But to paraphrase one of my favorite Homer statements in relationship to current day politics goes as such.

“Don’t be like Senator Kennedy and his family and seek solutions to life’s difficulties at the bottom of an empty whiskey bottle or empty baggie’s of drugs.”
Solutions to life’s problems are a click away “If you just watch daytime TV, ‘The View,’ ‘Jerry Springer,’ ‘The Maury Povich Show.'(who da baby daddy)”

That’s Web 2.0, bay-bee! You, the user, got to do something, to add your own content.

A little tweak with the hair and that’s a credible caricature, James!

Heh. But I had to pick out the skin color, hair type, and clothing. Clearly, it has zip to do with the photo.

  7. Matthew J. Stinson says:

God help me I played around with it a bit more and submitted a pic of Jessica Biel, then selected “male” as the sex and got a pic that looked nothing like fair Jessica. Like James says, this is lame.

it just picks up your hair color, adn you dont have to pick out the skin color, hair type, and clothing, you can just tweek it if you dont like how they did it
