Al Qaeda Unfair to Women!

Al Qaeda is in trouble now, getting complaints from women about being taken for granted.

Al Qaeda Unfair to Women! In this file image made from television on Nov. 13, 2005, Iraqi Sajida al-Rishawi opens her jacket and shows an explosive belt as she confesses on Jordanian state-run television to her failed bid to set off an explosives belt inside one of the three Amman hotels targeted by al-Qaida. Women Muslim extremists have posted Internet messages in recent weeks expressing frustration with the al-Qaida No. 2 leader's refusal to give them a larger role in terror attacks - an extraordinary, emotional debate that offers rare insight into the tense gender politics lurking below the surface of al-Qaida's severe strain of Islam.<br />
(AP Photo/Jordanian TV, File) Muslim extremist women are challenging al-Qaida’s refusal to include — or at least acknowledge — women in its ranks, in an emotional debate that gives rare insight into the gender conflicts lurking beneath one of the strictest strains of Islam.

In response to a female questioner, al-Qaida No. 2 leader Ayman Al-Zawahri said in April that the terrorist group does not have women. A woman’s role, he said on the Internet audio recording, is limited to caring for the homes and children of al-Qaida fighters.

His remarks have since prompted an outcry from fundamentalist women, who are fighting or pleading for the right to be terrorists. The statements have also created some confusion, because in fact suicide bombings by women seem to be on the rise, at least within the Iraq branch of al-Qaida.

Who knew Al-Zawahri was sexist? Your average old dude radical Muslim terrorist leader is a veritable Alan Alda, after all. I beat Ayman doesn’t do his fair share of the housework, either.

Jim Henley, naturally, predicted this development years ago. Reacting to a March 2005 story about terrorists using the Internet as a recruiting tool, Jim snarked, “Future stories in series: Terrorists Complain Nobody Links to Them; Why No Female Internet Terrorist Recruiters?; Terrorsphere Brings Down Dumbass Journalist; and Terrorist Internet Recruiters: Future of Terrorism or Bunch of Schmucks Sitting at Computer in Pajamas?”

Reductio creep strikes again.

In that spirit, I hereby predict someone on Hillary Clinton’s team will say the DNC is just like al Qaeda for not seating the other half of the Michigan and Florida delegations.
