TIME has 10 Questions For Rush Limbaugh
Of interest:
We lost over 1,000 soldiers in a training mission for D-day. A training mission! If we had had the kind of scrutiny in World War II that we have today, we wouldn’t have won it.
This is a startling statistic that I’d never encountered previously. The best I can determine, he’s talking about the Exercise TIGER tragedy of April 28, 1944:
Practice landings off the British coast were meant to prepare the U.S. military for the real thing on Utah Beach in Normandy. Suddenly, in the 2 a.m. darkness, the maneuvers became all too real when nine German gunboats sliced through the lightly guarded convoy and torpedoed three lumbering American Landing Ship Tanks (LSTs).
Seven hundred and forty nine servicemen died as a result of the German attack.
Considering that we’ve lost only slightly more than that in the Iraq War to date, Rush’s point is reasonable (indeed, I’ve made a similar one), even if his numbers are off.

LST crewmen fatalistically said that the acronym (Landing Ship, Tank) really stood for "Large Slow Target."

Saw a show last night (PBS), a paratrooper who hurt his ankle and missed his graduation jump. All his buddies died when the training plane crashed. He later qualified and jumped into Normandy with the 82nd.
War is a tough business. Perspective is needed. Morn the lost, honor their sacrifice.
He's always been right about McNugget. 10 days before his "infamous" remarks on ESPN, McNabb was voted "most overrated QB" by an overwhelming majority on a CBSSportsline.com poll.

Wonder what Donovan McNabb thinks about Rush's claim that DM owes him.
McNabb said on television he thought he should hire Limbaugh as his PR manager. So what do you think?
McNabb probably could care less as long as you still eat Chunky soup and Iggle fans still renew their season ticket packages. That being said, they're not going to win it all this year anyways.
But Limbaugh's claim is credible; you couldn't touch McNabb last year even though his completion percentage was in the bottom half of league QBs. With Owens this year instead of Thrash, improvement will be expected and no excuses will be tolerated.
As I remember it Limbaugh's point about McNabb was concerning his race being the reason he wasn't being criticized.
