This comes as no real surprise; the Dems floated that strategy in August when they ran Paul Hackett, an Iraqi war veteran, in the Ohio special election. Though Hackett lost to his Republican challenger, the Democrats trumpeted it as a victory because Hackett got more votes than predicted. As I noted then, however, “If the Dems run Iraq veterans all over the country, I don't doubt they would do much better than otherwise. Unfortunately, most veterans tend to vote -- and run -- on the Republican ticket.” [...]
