Newt Gingrich is Running For President

Ace of Spades HQ has the scoop. The speculation has been in this direction since the release of Gingrich’s book, but the evidence continues to mount. Ultimately, I continue to think Gingrich is an excellent ideas man but lacks the discipline and political judgment for executive office.

"O" NO!!!!!!!!
Clinton had his "pizza girl" under the "oval desk".
Newt will have his "office girl" bent over the "oval desk"

Some people are good at revolution, and some are good at governing. Often, the two are not the same. There's a certain point where the revolutionaries should step aside and let the more capable govern. Newt was great at getting Republicans elected to Congress, but poor at running the Congress. He should be out there working for the Republicans, not trying to run the show.

As much as I like many of Newts ideas I think his time has past. He should just let it go. There's always going to be that doubt with him and that will forever hurt his chances.

George Washington managed to lead both the revolution and the government.

For all his good points, Newt is no George Washington.

I seem to recall the same arguments being made against GWB.

Interesting, how that worked out.

I would hate to see Gingrich run for President. He's intelligent enough to know better. A Gingrich run would be the triumph of ego over wisdom.

I also boggle at the thought of Gingrich going up against (Hillary) Clinton again. We all know how well that worked out last time.

Bithead: Someone was arguing that GWB was an ideas man?

As is so often the case, everyone but the prospective candidate recognizes his/her flaws. Gingrich should go back and read an objective analysis of his personal problems during his last year or two in Congress. If he is the best the GOP can do, it is in trouble.

Having had the pleasure of watching Gingrich wow an audience of 500 military leaders at the National Defense University, I hope Gingrich runs but ultimately doesn't carry the banner. My rationale is as follows: The guy is the torch bearer for "the big picture idea". I think the ideas he brings forward would help sharpen the picture for Repubs, but ultimately he now a Beltway insider and lacks the grassroots support (or building one) that a successful candidate would need.

That being said, I think he's learned a lot from 1995-6 and would be a great piece to the 2008 puzzle. I mean, the guy's an electrifying speaker.

I think Newt would make an excellent President, but I think he'd be most electable as a VP (if he'd even accept that role). I'm having a tough time sorting out who should be VP and President, but here is a list:

1) Bill Owens as Presdent
2) Mitt Romeny as President or VP
3) Condi Rice as VP
4) Newt Gingrish as VP

I think a Gingrich Presidency is what this country needs. He has the inside understanding yet keeps his policies real world focused. Our United States deserves to Lead and Protect itself. Newt would bring it home!!
