Again, Christopher, do you really believe this stuff you write?? That only a liberal would question the integrity of a man who let a statement blaming Whittington for the accident stand unchallenged for over 3 days??

And since you don't provide a link to a Sunday story in which Cheney accepted full responsibility and acknowledged having a beer before the accident, I assume you are (wisely) backing off your statement that "Everything Cheney said today was exactly what was stated in the first press release that I read on Sunday. NOTHING has changed."

Only a person who has hunted quail in the high grass with a line of hunters can understand the dynamics of this type of hunting. Maintaining position and communication are everything for safety. The birds move fast in all directions. The field of fire is set before the line moves out. Everyone has some responsiblity. Keeping your position, keeping your companions informed, and keeping your eyes open for the unexpected. Upland bird hunting is thrilling, demanding, and not without danger. But these type of accidents do not automatically indicate character flaws, intoxication, criminal negligence or any of the other absurd charges being thrown about. Mr. Cheney, Mr. Whittington, please invite me to go bird hunting with you. I would be honored and firmly convinced that safety would not be an issue.

You know what is really funny, Drake? Everything Cheney said today was exactly what was stated in the first press release that I read on Sunday. NOTHING has changed. No secrets, no coverups. In fact the "victim" as you liberals so hilariously call him holds no grudge against Cheney (and much to your chagrin I am sure, he is getting better). I am sure that liberals must hate it when a smorgasbord of a story like this turns out to be nothing but everyday simple human drama. OMG! Cheney is human???

There are a few disturbing inconsistencies here. Consider:
- Today Cheney claims that he alone was at fault, but he let Armstrong's statements that the fault was all Whittington's go unchallenged for almost 4 days. What kind of person would do that? I believe this shows a lack of integrity. As soon as he saw that, he could have issued a statement saying that it was in no way Whittington's fault. Instead, he may have been waiting to see if anyone bought such a line. When the answer was clearly no, he accepted responsibility. He and Armstrong also both stated that they had discussed the release of information, which suggests that Cheney OK'd her placing the blame on Whittington.
- The beer timeline is inconsistent. Armstrong indicated they hunted until about 12:30pm, broke for lunch, then started hunting again about 2:30pm. Seems there were not hours and hours between the end of beer drinking and start of shooting.
