Democrats Disenfranchising Soldiers?
James Joyner:So, to recap, the Democratic Party is: 1. Trying to disenfranchise Nader supporters 2. Effectively disenfranchising American soldiers in harm's way It makes you wonder why they call themselves the "Democratic" Party, no?...

Overseas military an civilian voters: Although time is running out, it's still possible to register to vote in a few states. For a list and exact instructions see www.overseasvote2004.com. You can fill out the form online, print it, sign and mail in 5 minutes. It even prints the envelope with the your county registrar's address.

You registered but haven't gotten your ballot yet? Check the same site for information about federal write-in ballots. It's a good idea to use the FWABs because many states - see Pennsylvania -haven't gotten out their ballots on time or have had to change them because of court orders to place Ralph Nadar on their ballots.
Friends of mine everywhere have complained that the consulates don't answer their calls, but check the site above for information where you can obtain the FWABs.

Could Kerry Be Conspiring to Supress the Military
Could it be, that in an effort to suppress the military vote, the Commission on Presidential Debates scheduled the first debate - traditionally the most crucial debate - opposite the Air Force/Navy game on purpose?

Here in Arkansas, they tried to pull that stunt. After the State Supreme Court ruled that Nader could stay on the ballot, they basically ordered that the absentee ballots for our deployed soldiers get to them and get back in time. The state is doing whatever they must to accomplish this.

This came on the heels of the head of the Nader committee here making a public announcement that, if Nader wasn't on the ballot, his supporters would not be voting for Kerry.

Hey dw, would you rather be encouraging democracy (by helping candidates get on the ballot) or undermining democracy by sabotaging their effort?

Your point is mush compared to the author's point. BS alert@dw!

The Anti-Democracy Democrats
James Joyner observes that Democrat operatives are:1. Trying to disenfranchise Nader supporters 2. Effectively disenfranchising American soldiers in harm's wayIt does sort of belie their party's name, doesn't it?

I'm gonna call bs on that, dw. There's one helluva mess up here in the Commonwealth that the GOP has nothing to do with. The Justice Department has sued to try to get an extra two weeks for overseas voters to send in their ballots.

To make matters worse, there are fears that counties will have to reprint and send out second ballots to voters, further messing things up.

John Fund is not a credible source for any information on which to base an opinion. He makes a point never to read the news stories in the WSJ cause they contradict the 'facts' as he wants you to believe.

It should be noted here that the GOP has funded lawsuits to put Nader ON the ballot (most notably in Oregon), and that's caused delays as well. Two-way street, James.

Democracy: More screwing than a Home Depot, and more screws loose than a Home Depot after an earthquake.
