From the "about" page

Since 1964, ACU has been on the cutting edge of major public policy battles. Our most significant efforts, past and present, include fighting to keep OSHA off the backs of small businesses; opposing the Panama Canal giveaway

Panama Canal giveaway?

Ignorance is indeed bliss.

It should be noted that ACU is claiming that, despite his use of their logo in the second letter, Keene was acting as an individual. If so, Keene should be ousted at once if ACU is to retain even a shred of credibility

Look, the ACU isn't a ginormous bureaucracy like AT&T or GM.

To claim "we had no idea" is just ridiculous.

That credibility is already long gone.

I consider the American Conservative Union to generally be a force for good. I also have generally like David Keene, the head of the ACU. However, after this story, the credibility of the ACU is now dependent on firing him,......

Keene signed using his title at the ACU, either he was representing the ACU or misrepresenting it. If the former, then the ACU is dirty, if the latter, he should already be fired, waiting only damages the ACU.

Is it interesting how many supposed respectable organizations have lost the understanding that you don't put your disreputable behavior on paper. Washington Post, ACU, who's next?

What's this!? The American Conservative Union is involved in shady dealings? Well, Grover Norquist is involved in the proceedings, so it isn't too shocking...who did these guys take their inspiration from? It certainly wasn't Burke...Tom Delay, perhaps...do conservatives have any good news these days...

Not to get excited. This conservative group made an offer to an agency that has red, white, and blue for a logo.

Next time he should just offer his services on
E-bay, since its only about money these days -in both parties.

Give Obamathon credit though -he's ferreting out the hypocrits.

[...] James Joyner: UPS’ position is mere rent-seeking: Trying to get government to impose a cost it already bears on a competitor. For ACU to side with UPS would be outrageous enough; to do so after having been rebuffed on a pay-for-play bid is scandalous. (George Will noted that yesterday in a column written before this scandal broke, but I hadn’t read that until after coming to the conclusion independently.)
Remember, Conservativism isn't a political philosophy anymore, it's an identity group. The ACU can't take positions based on principles because it doesn't have any. All that matters is who is "one of them", and apparently UPS was willing to do far more to show it's a member of the tribe than Fed Ex was.

I will be interested to see the excuses that Republicans come up with to explain this though. No doubt in the coming days we'll all find out about how Fed Ex is really trying to destroy America.
