AIR FRANCE

I’ve arrived safely at the folks’ house and engaged in the standard holiday festivities, such as they are with three adults and no children.

Not much of consequence worth blogging about during the 24-hour or so hiatus other than the cancelation of the Air France flights and the various airport security snafus of yesterday. Dan Drezner has done a good job of covering the former, as I’m sure have many others. I’m a little peeved that they managed to let this go public and thus didn’t capture the terrorists, but I suppose a botched operation that at least conceivably prevented another attack is something we can live with.

I’m also positively baffled at the incident at La Guardia yesterday. Having been through my share of post-9/11 airport security lines all across the country, wherein millions of people are inconvenienced for no particular reason, it’s stunning that someone could run through the security checkpoint–past all the TSA security staff funded by the taxpayers–and manage to escape sufficiently well that an entire terminal is shut down for hours. These people are vigilant enough to frisk little old ladies with metal shanks in their shoes and yet their suspicions aren’t sufficiently aroused by people running through the checkpoints to give chase? Get on the radio and alert someone down the line?

If Drudge is reporting on Dr. Joyner's Christmas loot, he must've gotten some very cool stuff. I'm with Kate -- 'fess up James!

Yuck Yuck Yuck Yuck- you always get a laugh.... I was mentioning that Drudge had some scoop from the WaPo last night worth reading. We *might* have really prevented an attack. That would be big news.
