Al Pacino Nails It

Pacino Peaked 30 Years Ago

Hollywood legend Al Pacino admits he hasn’t made a good movie in 30 years.

The actor believes he peaked in 1975 movie Dog Day Afternoon and hasn’t had a decent role since, despite the four Academy Award nominations and one win - for 1992s Scent of Woman - he has achieved since.

He tells the New York Daily News, “I know I haven’t made a good film since Dog Day Afternoon.

“Somebody at a press conference once asked me, ‘Do you think you’ll ever be as good as you were in ‘Dog Day’?’ and I said flatly, ‘No.’ That answered that.”

As one who sees little brilliance in Scarface, this seems spot on to me. In fact, Pacino’s name on the marquee is generally enough to keep me from seeing a film.

He is lying. I think he wants to point out the 'Vanity Fair the Movie' was really about Plames, which is why she targeted 'Vanity Fair' for her interview and the subsequent assassinations in Iraq and the Spanish thing.

As far as Hollywood actors working with DOJ and the Pentagon, they probably don't want to work for CIA like they do now.

Rolling the news....

Al seems a bit self-critical.....I thought "The Insider" was an excellent film, especially as Al played against type as a television producer.

Thunderbird, "Serpico" came out before "Dog Day Afternoon" I believe.

Egocentric. Sure dda was a great movie but that doesn't mean that his other movies were crap. Obviously the audiences who have watched his many films and his many fans that thrive at his acting skill surely dint think he has bad movies. Maybe he is just picking his favourite role he played and basing his opinion on that. Maybe he needs to go back into those sort of movies.
