I should add, she can do the job better, because she actually BELIEVES that spreading her politics IS the job of a news editor.

Why would this be 'distressing', to anyone?

We've known for years the politics that TIME subscribes to, and in it's turn, promotes. THey consider that their role, these days.

They've simply hired someone that can do the job better.

Given the amount of e-mail we get asking when Ana Marie Cox will “come back to save Wonkette,” we’ve gathered that feelings about this blog’s founding editor run strong. Many of the comments about her new job at Time.com were......

Yeah, James is right. If it was just about the "backdoor" thing, Andrew Sullivan would have had the job long ago.

(OK, bad taste, but it made me laugh)

It's hard to be say much about these things as less prominent bloggers saying anything bad about Cox are dismissed as envious. She's a talented woman and likely up to the job.

Still, it's a more than slightly unusual career path. One usually doesn't go from gossip columnist with a penchant for raunchiness to getting hired by TIME as a feature writer to being Washington Editor in a short span.

The question is do you think Ann Marie Cox can be a serious editor or will she revert to being a stand up (back door) comedienne.

Hmmmm, I wish Ana Marie the best. But online editor or not, this is a pretty big promotion for her. Strange. But again, good luck!
