Eric Akawie has relaunched his blog journal Akablog Beta on AOL’s interface. He can be a test case for how well this new blog system works.

Good thing, the interface is not that bad. (And I'm saying that as someone who teaches people how to use the service.)
Really bad thing though was that it prompted me for an AOL/AIM/Netscape username in order to post a comment. So basically, if they keep that feature in, that means AOL wants to keep the garden walled.
(I have a username, it's just the principle involved.)
Yep. It's rather contrary to the whole notion of blogging. A major problem with AOL in general, really.
