Armstrong Says He Might Skip Next Tour

Armstrong Says He Might Skip Next Tour

PARIS – In his strongest comments yet on next year’s Tour de France, Lance Armstrong says he is unsure if he will ride in cycling’s showcase event because he’d like to compete in other races.

Armstrong, who won a record sixth straight Tour de France this year, said in Saturday’s edition of L’Equipe it is “time to move onto other things.” He has previously been somewhat evasive about whether he will return in 2005.

I’d thought this was already pretty definite at the end of the Tour this summer. Over the last three years I’ve begun following the Tour de France more closely. Partly due to Lance Armstrong, but also due to my Brother-in-law, an avid sports fan. If you watch Outdoor Life Network (OLN) you get coverage of almost all the stages over the three week period. Its a lot better to watch the Tour in depth as opposed to just the recaps. It’ll be interesting to see if the Discovery Channel can put together as good a team as the USPS team.
