I don't know if this was a budget problems or just plain an idiot working in payroll problems, but here is the story I am refering too. It was on the ABC news broadcast with Peter Jennings. You can find it at their website at the back page section headlines. Quote of the day, "I couldn't even buy things without worrying about spending to much money for simple items, like shampoo and deodorant."This statement was made by a single mother. Her name is Melinda Delain. Her paycheck has been delayed for months, and she is on active duty.

Cathy: Cite me an instance of a deployed soldier not getting paid because of budget problems.

Tell that to the reservist that has the house payment past due. I just think they should treat our frontline military people better. That is as far as keeping them at the top of the page of their bookkeeping. The activated soldier should get their money first...no if, ands or buts.

I'm certain they're paying the called up Reservists. What's happening is that the Army is getting close to its budget for the year and would theoretically be unable to pay people through the end of the fiscal year (30 September). In reality, money will be shifted between accounts, with training or something slowed down a tad.

Soldiers will get paid; that much I can promise you.

I saw a news story last night, about how they can't even pay the reservist, that are on active duty in Iraq. It is strange that they can afford insentives, to lure new recruits, but they can't even pay the soldiers that are already on the front lines. hmmmm!
