Asked and Answered: Trekkie Obama Edition
Patrick Gavin asks:
POLITICO hears from several sources that the President has asked Paramount Pictures for his own screening of the new “Star Trek” film in the White House. The White House request could just be an attempt by the president to stay on top of pop culture by watching this box office bonanza — but could there be more to it?

Maybe he just wants to see the movie, regardless of any "attempt...to stay on top of pop culture."
While no fan of this President, I'd rather he watch movies in the White House than disrupt some significant portion of business in the area of the cinema where he goes to watch them.
Hey, perhaps Obama, like Ilya Somin over at Volokh Conspiracy, is hoping for clues on how the Federation became the socialist paradise, which we all know and ignore. Although, I suspect for differing reasons.
