Biden: “You cannot enter a 7-11 or a Dunkin Donuts unless you have an Indian Accent” (Video)

Drudge provides a link to this video of Sen. Biden putting his foot into his seemingly ever-open mouth:

I have no idea what to make of this. Thoughts?

UPDATE (James Joyner): Having on more than one occasion attempted to be humorous in a way that fell flat, I can sympathize with Biden on this. Still, the man’s been in the Senate 34 years–having been elected at the astonishing age of 29 (indeed, being almost mathematically as young as Constitutionally permissible)–and first ran for president 18 years ago. One would think he’d have mastered this sort of thing by now.

Apparently, even part of Joe Biden's own brain thinks he shouldn't be president.

He'll probably find a way to say that it was "taken out of context". Watching the video I couldn't help but wonder if the fella standing next to Biden was even Indian? What if he is Pakistani, wouldn't that be a hoot?

I guess I'll have to work on mine the next time I want a Slurpie.

This is typical Joe; I am from Del. and have seen him speak numerous times. Politicians in Del. are very informal because we are such a small state, and you can run into your elected officials at the grocery store, at Target, or just gassing up the car.

We are used to him and I just chuckled and shook my head. But I know how it sounds to those not used to him and it is this type of gaffe that will prevent him from ever getting the Presidential nomination.

Note: I have never voted for Joe and usually work for his opponent. I'm still mad at him for some of the comments he made about Pres. Bush.

I'm a southern white-trash republican redneck and I can not believe he said that. However I don't really think he meant anything offencive by it, I still wonder what would have happened if Trent Lott would have made that statement. It would be broadcast all over the world by CNN, MSNBC and the like. Where is the Rev Al Sharpton? Where is Jessie Jackson? Funny how that double standard works.

FedUp, you are hilarious! Biden makes a racist comment and you ha-ha-ha it and say everyone in your state is like that. OMG! What a loser senator! What a loser state!

Christopher,

I was ha-ha-ing typical Joe. He often puts his foot in his mouth. We are used to him doing it. I guess I was trying to say that I was not scandalized that Joe said it; he has made many eye-brow raising statements. He is a loser Senator and I would love to get rid of him but he is a fixture.

Please don't judge the entire state by my comment.
