BLACKS LEAVING DEMS? Maybe, so according to today’s Washington Times: “Al Gore’s presidential campaign manager yesterday said Democrats cannot take black voters for granted in 2004 and must stop attacking civil rights activist Al Sharpton because Republicans are making “inroads” into one of the party’s most loyal voting blocs.” She makes some interesting observations, but I don’t buy her analysis. There is very little evidence that the GOP is making much progress in attacting the black vote, still getting well under 10% in every major election. Gaining a couple of percentage points is mere regression to the mean.
