Blogs Under Hack Attack

Michelle Malkin reports on the latest denial of service attack, apparently coming from an Islamist group, on HostingMatters, a company which hosts many of the top blogs including, until recently, both Malkin’s and OTB. Among the sites affected: Instapundit, Power Line, Captain’s Quarters, Pundit Guy, Small Dead Animals, Radioblogger, and IMAO.

It’s apparently over now.

HostingMatters has been the target of attacks numerous times in the past. They host a ton of blogs, including several popular and controversial ones, so they’re an inevitable target.

Previously: The Islamists’ War on the Internet

About the Author: James Joyner is the publisher of Outside the Beltway and the managing editor of the Atlantic Council. He's a former Army officer, Desert Storm vet, and college professor with a PhD in political science from The University of Alabama. He lives just outside the Beltway in Alexandria, Virginia with his wife and infant daughter.

QC, SDA, PG and IMAO all have comments sections. Although even combined they probably don't get the traffic of either IP or MM.

The attack might be over, but HM still doesn't have all of the serves back (or, at least, they have mine offline as of right now).

Islamists shmamists. It's obvious what happened. Last night "Nabakov" published the Ultimate Comment in the legendary "Blog" thread. This aroused fear and loathing in Old Postmodernism. Furious that teh internets are eating their lunch, they attacked.

I've been trying to get to Michael Totten for a day now and all I get are error messages, not sure of his provider.
