Kobe Bryant just told Steven A. Smith live on the radio that he wants to be traded from the LA Lakers.
About the Author: Steven is an Associate Professor of Political Science at Troy University in Alabama. He is the author of the book Voting Amid Violence: Electoral Democracy in Colombia, forthcoming from University of New England Press and the contributing editor on Colombia to the Library of Congress’s Handbook of Latin American Studies. He has his PhD from the University of Texas in Austin and a BA from the University of California at Irvine.

As a Lakers fan, I would be heart broken if Kobe left, but at least for the first time he has put to bed the grand theory that Kobe got rid of Shaq. All of the facts point to Buss making this decision independent of Kobe, but because of the rape case and general dislike for him, he's been stuck with that label. If it has to happen though, I'm hoping for a trade with Seattle or Portland for Odom or Durant.
