Do your homework, cloverstump. Pres. Bush accumulated more hours in his guard duty than Kerry spent the entire time he was in Viet Nam.
He has every right to give all the encouragement he can to men and women he sends to fight. It's a measure of his personal honor that he chooses to do so, knowing the criticism he'll get from people like you.

Nobody finds this to be a complete hypocrisy?

Then man completely blew off his duties while serving in the National Gaurd ensuring that he never made it over to Vietnam, and is now sending this kids (who actually take their service to our country seriously) off to die.

"May God keep you safe." What bullshit.

What surprised me most about this story was Dana Milbank actually writing it "straight." When I saw it in the paper, I reflexively started moving past it, figuring he'd give it the typical "plastic turkey!" spin, insinuating that Bush was harassing soldiers who just wanted a quiet flight over to their near-certain deaths because Bush set the world against us, yada yada yada....

It also allows Bush to be at ease than the pre-planned event. Bush tends to be good at infromal settings.
