 Outside the Beltway

Cathy Seipp, RIP

Freelance writer and longtime blogger Cathy Seipp died yesterday after a 5-year-long bout with lung cancer. She was only 49. And, no, like a lot of people who die from lung cancer, she never smoked cigarettes.

Her daughter, Maia, Susan Estrich, John O’Sullivan, Virginia Postrel, Matt Welch, Joanne Jacobs, Marc Danziger, Amy Alkon, Jim Treacher, Justin Levine, Ken Layne, Michelle Malkin, AllahPundit, Jeremy Reff, Eric Scheie and Moxie have tributes. Many more here and here.

The LAT, of which she was a frequent critic, has a nice obit.

About the Author: James Joyner is the publisher of Outside the Beltway and the managing editor of the Atlantic Council. He's a former Army officer, Desert Storm vet, and college professor with a PhD in political science from The University of Alabama. He lives just outside the Beltway in Alexandria, Virginia.
