Christmas. Religious or Secular?

Boy in a Santa suit asked to quit dance

To me this is just sad.

HAMPTON - A parent of a Hampton Academy Junior High School student says the principal of the school told his son to leave the school’s holiday dance on Friday night because the boy was dressed in a Santa Claus costume, which was politically incorrect.

While The secular traditions of Christmas are celebrated more by christians or people’s whose ethnic background has been more christain in make-up I do not hold that in any way these are part of the religious celebration of Christmas. This is a banning of secular, not religious traditions.

If this had anything to do with religion I would see it more an issue of freedom to worship as one sees fit, not a separation of church and state.

If it actually happened this way, then yes it is ridiculous, and the principal is out of line with jurisprudence and common sense. The accuracy of these types of stories and Drudge in general are often highly dubious, though, so I'd wait and see.

Well, we all know that Santa is in the Bible, and so Santa is clearly offensive.

I think that that is Satan in the bible. ;)

and I agree carpeicthus, there are usually two sides to every story. I responded to the verbatum account in the article.
