I agree your ignoring won't make it go away but paying attention to it lends it credibility. The more who ignore it the less credible it becomes and the less we hear about it. That would apply to all celebrities and the spouting off that they do.

The hairdresser bit is from an old Clairol campaign saying that their colors were so natural that no one would be able to tell.

Gah! Why do I know that? Now that I've used up that bit of trivia maybe I can reclaim those brain cells.

Celebrities should not be paid attention to and I fault a lazy media corp for this. I would even lay some blame at the feet of our host here.

But the problem is that they are paid more attention to precisely because of their notoriety. The Norris backing Huckabee story has been played mostly for laughs, I think, but it's something people are naturally interested in.

And, frankly, once the story is out there, my ignoring it doesn't make it go away.

In this particular case it's unusual since the celeb is a Republican but it's still someone who should not be given any more notice than a regular citizen.

I believe the "and his hairdresser" line is a southern saying, meaning only McCain and those with whom he shares her personal thoughts and feelings. Southern women often have very personal relationships to their hairdressers, and discuss things with them they wouldn't necessarily discuss with other friends or family.

And Chuck Norris is too old for those cheesy he-man roles. I mean, hard to take seriously with those ridiculously ill-fitting dentures!
