Clark to Endorse Kerry

Oh, the irony. Wesley Clark has apparently been smearing John Kerry to any reporter who would listen. But yet he’s throwing his support–such as it is–to him, according to WaPo.

John Kerry lined up the support of campaign dropout Wesley Clark on Thursday, hoping to pre-empt any move by his remaining Democratic presidential rivals to sneak up on him in next week’s Wisconsin primary.

Democratic officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Clark would bestow his endorsement on the front-runner on Friday in Madison, Wis. Kerry gained Clark’s pledge of support as rivals John Edwards and Howard Dean crisscrossed the state, focusing on jobs and health care.

Clark spokesman Matt Bennett would not confirm the endorsement, only saying, “General Clark is looking forward to going to Wisconsin to be with Senator Kerry.”

Politics makes strange bedfellows, I guess.

I think this is the political equivalent of wiping ones fingerprints off the gun.

Or, well... In this case, the knife in Kerry's back.

It'd be funny if this speech that Clark'll be making today turns out to be an attack, rather than an endorsement. Sort of, "I was prepared to throw my support to Clark, but recent allegations blah blah blah..."

Or even "throw my support to Kerry". Must ingest more caffeine.

Moe, if Clark didn't fully have his own support, that would explain why his campaign went nowhere. ;-)
