Clinton Speeches at the Democratic Convention

Drudge has early transcripts of the speeches by Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton at tonight’s convention opener. I skipped the live show, having had my fill of Clintons, but I’ll likely force myself to watch the Kerry speech Thursday.

As a bonus, here’s Jimmy Carter’s speech.

I must say, I’m intrigued by the line-up: Jimmy Carter and Bill and Hillary Clinton tonight and a whole night of Teddy Kennedy tributes tomorrow. Other than Sandy Berger, this is pretty much the line-up Karl Rove would have picked.

About the Author: James Joyner is the publisher of Outside the Beltway and the managing editor of the Atlantic Council. He's a former Army officer, Desert Storm vet, and college professor with a PhD in political science from The University of Alabama. He lives just outside the Beltway in Alexandria, Virginia.

Well, James, under the circumstances I would say that it should be perfectly clear that picking the people the President's incorrigable supporters dislike most is neutral at worst and positive at best.

There will be no "crossover" voting in this election. The fact that you even bring this issue up point to the still lingering illusion among "conservatives" that they are somehow a "majority", and the rest of us are not "real Americans" but (I presume) merely holograms.

They weren't a majority in 2000, when nothing more serious than "compassionate conservatism" (my god, how diminuative and ridiculous that sounds now!) was on the line, and they won't be in 2004.

By the way, thanks for the link to the Carter material. It was sad to see it get lost in the cracks of the coverage. It deserved much better.
