As I remember the '04 WS champs seemed to have a different on the field and off the field look that didn't seem to be overly concerned with embracing Christianity. At least not in it's conventional form.

I think it is pretty obvious from history that strong religious convictions can sometimes lead to very bad values indeed.

This story reminded me of an episode in the history of the Seattle Mariners. Many of the players had become ostentatiously religous and made a public show of praying prior to games etc. Meanwhile the team was on a losing streak. One of the coaches was quoted in the newspaper as blaming the failure on the Christian influence on the team ;too many players thought it was up to God, not them, to determine who won the game, he said.

That those have a common fabric with Christianity is not a coincidence.

I get so tired of hearing this.

Personally, I believe good "values" are unrelated to religion.
