Well, at the risk of going way off topic, I don't think it was just a gut feeling. Of course, not the reasoning doesn't look so bad and/or the plan for the long term was bad/non-existent. Still, saying that I have lots of buyers remorse over early support going into Iraq is...a bit of an understatement.

but the idea of liking something that will cost billions maybe tens of billions and impact millions because based on nothing more than gut feelings is just plain dumb.

Kinda like Iraq, huh?

Well, I can't say I hate it personally because I'd never be able to afford insurance without it, mandate or no. A girl's gotta eat, even if she's already got a health problem or two. I agree, though, that the statewide setup doesn't make a lot of sense. If I understand how it works here (MA) correctly, it's based on much smaller areas. I'm not sure if it's by town or by a defined region, but I know when we moved my premium changed.

to pool their risk. Its great if you are sickly, have pre-existing conditions or simply want to be a fat slob sitting around drinking and smoking. If you are healthy and watch what you eat and exercise, then it may not be such a great deal. Further, there maybe regional transfers as well from rural areas to urban areas. Also I’m doubtful of the idea that these regional Health Markets will be able to negotiate low premiums. Sounds more like a euphemism for price controls to me. And here is a nifty part,
