First of all: WTF!!! Who on God's green earth cares!!!!

And bains, I am a conservative and I could care less what two people do together. But recognizing it as marriage? NO! This "benefits of marriage" thing is BS, a red herring. Too bad it gets so much talk from people like you.

A serious trap that partisans fall into, is constructing caricatures of there opponents. Understandable, but problematic if one is really interested in reaching an accord. It creates, in effect, dishonest debate. One is constantly addressing subjects that they think animate their opponent rather than what really animates.

For social conservatives who believe that homosexuality is a sin and living in a society that they view as demanding that they not just accept homosexuality, but embrace it, topics on homosexuality, especially from a conservative source, naturally will be of interest. I'm not a social-con, and I have no problem with social unions, and certainly think that couples entering into unions ought to have all the benefits (and liabilities) that hetero's enjoy. But I'll not make the mistake of throwing all conservatives in the homophobic/secret-homosexual closet.

That said, Mike's comment was funny.
