Bin Laden's messages have sometimes been precursors to these attacks. The resorts on the Sinai continue to be a favorite AQ target. Big surprise they are continuing to target the Egyptian tourism industry. Most likely this is a reflection of Al-Zawahiri's priorities.

If this was indeed an Al-Qaeda operation, it is heartening to see that their leadership is ultimately as incompetent as ours. As far as our progress in our fight with Al Qaeda, the question appears to be which side will implement the most self-damaging practices the quickest, thus bringing on their own ultimate destruction. So far we appear to be somewhat ahead in this area, but that will change.

Fortunately for us, Bush will be gone in a few years. We should then be able to make some gains as Al Qaeda's leadership will likely remain a group of idiots. I know Bin Laden pulled off a coup with 9/11 from his perspective, but I believe the bulk of his success was serendipity in that he faced Bush instead of a competent American leader. 9/11 should have been the beginning of a quick end for Al Qaeda.

Long term, we should be able to clean up our act before they do. Then they will be in deep doo-doo and such self-destructive attacks as these against their own potential constitituents will only help us as we actually join with the rest of the world in tracking them down instead of recruiting for them.

I seem to remember Bush promising to bring Bin Laden to justice. Yet another failure...

LJD, some of us have been advocating going after Al Qaeda for years--i.e., fighting the terrorists that attacked us. Unfortunately, our Great Leader and he followers preferred to focus the bulk of our resources on invading and occupying Iraq. Glad to see you finally supporting the war effort.

At what point in your extensive experience applying the use miltary resources to problems such as terrorism did you come to the conclusion that 'more is better'?

You also failed to address my earlier comment about trampling on the feet of Afghanistan and/or Pakistan. You know- 'breeding more terrorists'?

Hell, this was an attack in Egypt. Maybe we should invade them?

Oh, I see LJD. You think we shouldn't fight terrorists--i.e., less is better. That'll show 'em. Good luck with that approach. Seems to me I've read you arguing that attacking other countries for no reason is a good idea, though. Why not apply the same philosophy you express here if you're so hot on killing Iraqis. Why not just stay home. That'd show them just as well as it would show the terrorists wouldn't it?
